Typically a patient going in for a scheduled PRRT will check into the Zentralklinik on a Sunday and then begin scans and tests on Monday. During that time the patient can spend time with family members at any time the patient is not in the Nuclear Medicine Ward. Family members/friends can go with a patient when a test or scan is scheduled in the klinik up until the time of the PRRT. Family members/friends can go to the door of the Nuclear Medicine Ward, but they may not visit the patient inside the Ward.
During and After Treatment
Once the patient has the PRRT, then the patient must stay on the ward for 48 hours. During first 24 hours, the patient must be in their room. After the initial 24 hours, the patient can go into the Ward and move freely. This means that family/friends can go to the front door of the Ward and be seen there. After 48 hours, a staff member will scan the patient to check the radiation level. If it is at an approved level, then the patient can go outside the Ward. The patient may go anywhere on the hospital grounds and family/friends may go with them
During treatment time the patient can talk on the phone and/or skype on the Internet.
